A message from the owner of Metric Motorworks
John Chaplin Owner
Hello, my name is John Chaplin and I’m the owner of Metric Motorworks. I’d like to introduce myself to you and outline both my qualifications and unique approach to automotive service. I’ve had over 40 years experience in the automobile service industry, over half of them here on the Oregon coast. I am a re certified ASE master auto technician and have had factory training in several lines including Mercedes Benz.
Tired of the business model at the new car dealerships where I had worked, I opened Metric Motorworks in 1993 with a vision of maintaining an environment where the clients are treated as friends first and foremost.
I began Metric Motorworks as a one man operation and have always operated small with myself and one or two other employees. I have never aspired to be the biggest but always tried to be the most competent at what we do. I understand people have many choices when it comes to maintaining their vehicles. Metric Motorworks has worked hard to build a solid reputation of integrity, reliability and excellent service and we treat clients as we would like to be treated.
Ron Prasky Service Manager
Ron has a long history of customer service and after relocating to our area was looking for a new challenge. As service manager he has excellent communication skills and always follows through with promises. We are very pleased to have Ron on our staff!
Steven Woods Technician
Steve has over 30 years experience on European vehicles and is very thorough in diagnosis and repair. After owning his own business for many years in Bakersfield California he made the move north for a simpler life style. He understands the challenges of modern automobiles and may be the most reliable person to ever work for us in 30 years. Over 4 years, despite living a ways away in the country Steve has not been late for work a single time. Those of you who understand work ethic also understand the meaning of this.
Houston Peavyhouse Technician
Houston came to us with a love for cars and eager to build his skills in this industry. He pays attention to detail and has a knack for knowing when something isn’t just right. It’s refreshing in this day and age of younger people wanting certain kinds of careers not in demand for someone to be committed to good old fashioned auto repair. We appreciate having him!.
